Partnership with HyPerformix Optimizes Application-Centric Capacity Planning
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Nov. 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Today, Mercury Interactive Corporation (Nasdaq: MERQ - News), the global leader in business technology optimization (BTO), announced enhancements to its capacity planning offering through a relationship with HyPerformix. The enhanced offering, Mercury Capacity Planning(TM) powered by HyPerformix(TM), allows Information Technology (IT) teams to make the right tradeoffs between the performance and scalability of mission-critical business applications and the costs of their underlying infrastructure.
Mercury Capacity Planning uses HyPerformix's Integrated Performance Suite(TM) technology, with Mercury LoadRunner® to build models of existing or future production environments and create "what-if" scenarios of infrastructure deployment alternatives. This combination enables IT teams to make fast, informed decisions about the optimal infrastructure requirements from an application end-user perspective, before going live.
Mercury Capacity Planning powered by HyPerformix allows IT teams to:
- Dramatically reduce IT waste and overspending by determining the optimal cost and performance trade-offs from an end-user and application perspective;
- Accelerate the capacity planning process by automating 'what-if analysis' such as changes to the servers, network, applications, shared infrastructures; and
- Increase the accuracy of capacity planning by basing it on real application performance data from Mercury LoadRunner.
Mercury Capacity Planning features include:
- Predicts end-user response time based on specific configurations and changes to the underlying infrastructure;
- A library of over 1,600 hardware device capacity models that allow analysis of complex heterogeneous composite infrastructures such as web and application servers, databases, network switches, routers; and
- Auto generates capacity planning data from existing and new load tests, enabling accurate and timely planning for infrastructure procurement.
"Planning the optimal application infrastructure requirements requires both QA engineers and software architects to conduct simulations of application and infrastructure capacity in real world conditions," said Theresa Lanowitz, research director at Gartner, Inc. "This requires the right combination of people, processes and technologies from development and IT operations to ensure that applications and supporting infrastructure are planned properly to support the needs of the business."
"Mercury Capacity Planning combines the capability of Mercury LoadRunner and HyPerformix Performance Suite technology to deliver a fast and accurate capacity planning offering," said Rajesh Radhakrishnan, senior director of product marketing at Mercury. "Working with HyPerformix demonstrates Mercury's commitment to help our customers optimize the quality, performance and availability of their most important applications."
For more than 15 years, Mercury has helped thousands of customers optimize application quality and performance. Gartner ranks Mercury as the market leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Distributed Testing. According to IDC, Mercury is the undisputed leader in application delivery with more than 55 percent market share, more than double its nearest competitor.
